Apple Ultracompact USB Power Adapter
Product description
This recall involves the ultracompact Apple USB Power Adapter that were supplied with iPhone 3G units sold in Canada this year. These products may have also been sold separately as an accessory. The ultracompact power adapter consists of two metal prongs encased in white plastic.
Ultracompact power adapters with a green dot on the bottom are not included in Apple Canada's Exchange Program as these products have been redesigned and do not present the same hazard.
Hazard identified
The Apple USB power adapter's metal prongs can break off and remain in a power outlet, posing a risk of electrical shock.
The manufacturer, Apple Inc., has received reports of detached prongs involving a very small percentage of the adapters sold, but no injuries have been reported.
Health Canada has not received reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of this ultracompact Apple USB power adapter.
