Product description
This recall involves the following two Whirlpool branded dehumidifier models sold exclusively through Canadian Tire retail stores:
- 25 pint: AD25USV & AD25GUSW
- 35 pint: AD35USV & AD35GUSW
Hazard identified
An electrical failure in the dehumidifier's circuitry can overheating, posing a fire hazard.
Kelon has received seven reports of dehumidifier electrical failures that resulted in fires, smoke damage and minor property damage. However, no injuries have been reported.
Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these affected dehumidifiers.
Number sold
Approximately 220,000 effected units were sold exclusively through Canadian Tire retail stores across Canada.
Time period sold
The affected units were sold from From August 2007 through January 2011.

What you should do
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled dehumidifiers, unplug the unit and contact customer support to verify if their dehumidifier is included in the recall.
If the dehumidifier is included in the recall, customer support will direct consumers on next steps. Consumers should not return the recalled dehumidifiers to the retailer where purchased as retailers are not prepared to take the units back.
