Sulley Character Stuffed Animal

Product description

The recalled product is a furry blue creature, known as Sulley, from the Monsters Inc. movies.  The product is covered in blue furry fabric with purple spots, horns on its head, and has blue eyes measuring about 2.5 centimetres (1 inch) in diameter. The stuffed animal is about 43 centimetres (17 inches) high and 27 centimetres (10.5 inches) wide.

Only the products with the tracking label ending in 4378 in Canada and 4384, 4385 in the USA are affected. These numbers can be found sewn on the label on the backside of the leg of the product.

Hazard identified

The stuffed animal’s eyes can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children.

Neither Health Canada nor Build-A-Bear Workshop Inc. has received reports of injuries related to the use of these toys.

Number sold

Approximately 1,100 units of the recalled toys were sold in Canada and approximately 25,000 units in the United States.

Time period sold

The recalled product was sold at Build-A-Bear Workshops and sold online at www.buildabear.com during June 2013.

Place of origin

Manufactured in China.

What you should do

Consumers should take the recalled plush toys away from children immediately and return it to any Build-A-Bear Workshop store to receive a coupon for any stuffed animal from Build-A-Bear Workshop.

For more information, consumers may contact Build-A-Bear toll free at 1-866-236-5683 between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. CST Monday through Friday, on Saturday between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. CT and on Sunday between 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. CST or by email.  Consumers can also visit the firm’s website and click on the Product Recalls at the bottom of the page for more information.

Consumers may view the release by the US CPSC on the Commission’s website.
