Product description

This recall involves multiple ceiling and wall mounted motion activated outdoor lights sold in Canada under the brand names Heath/Zenith and Portfolio with the model numbers listed below.

The product is designed to turn on when motion is detected at night and comes in a variety of styles and finishes. The brand name and model number are not visible on the outside of the product, but can be found on a label located on the back of the motion sensor (for wall-mounted models) or underneath the motion sensor cover (for ceiling-mounted models).

Consumers should visually inspect their light and compare it with the product images in this notice. If the light matches any of the images in this notice, consumers should contact HeathCo to verify whether their product is affected by this recall.

*Note:  Consumers who have the original packaging from their 4305 model products can check for the following specific model numbers on the box:  SL-4305-BK-B, SL-4305-WH-B and HZ-4305-WH. These are the only model numbers within the 4305 family affected by this recall.

Hazard identified

The internal fixture wiring can energize the entire surface and fittings of the fixture posing an electrical shock hazard.

Neither Health Canada nor HeathCo LLC has received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of the affected light fixtures.

Number sold

Approximately 13,000 units (12 models) of the recalled light fixtures were sold in Canada at various retail locations nationwide and online.

Approximately 210,000 units (21 models) of the recalled light fixtures were sold in the United States.

Time period sold

The products were sold from December 2006 through July 2013.

Place of origin

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the lights and turn the power to the fixtures off at the source.  Consumers may contact the company for further instructions and to receive a free replacement.

Consumers may contact HeathCo by telephone at 1-855-704-5438 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CST Monday through Friday, or by email. Consumers may also visit the firm's website and click on “Recall” to access information about these products.

Consumers may view the release by the US CPSC on the Commission’s website.

Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada.
