“Just like Home” Toaster Set

Product description

The recall involves the Just Like Home brand toy toaster sets. The teal blue plastic toy toaster has silver trim around the slice opening on top, with an orange slider handle on the side and orange 3-dimensional adjustment knob outlined with orange dots in a half moon shape on  the face of the toaster in the left bottom corner. “Just like home” is printed in white on the front right bottom corner of the toaster. The toaster measures about 10 centimetres long by 14 centimetres high by 5 centimetres deep. The toaster set was sold with two plastic toast slices and two plastic half bagel slice accessories. Model number 5F60589 is printed on a white label on the bottom of the toaster and above the UPC bar code in the lower right hand corner of the product packaging.

Hazard identified

The plastic slice of toast, under pressure, can crack and break into small pieces posing a sharp edge or small part hazard to young children.

Health Canada has not received any reports of consumer incidents or injuries in Canada related to the use of this product.  Toys “R” Us has received two incident reports with one report of the plastic bread shattering in Canada.  No serious injuries resulted.

Number sold

Approximately 6146 of the recalled toasters were sold at Toys R Us in Canada and approximately 30,000 affected toasters were distributed in the United States.

Time period sold

The recalled toy toasters were from August 1, 2013 to August 5, 2014.

Place of origin

Manufactured in China.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately remove the product from children's reach and contact Toys “R” Us.

Customers are directed to call the Toys “R” Us customer service toll-free number at 1-800-869-7787 and/or visit Toys “R” Us website  for additional information regarding this recall, and for advice on how to obtain a refund.

Consumers may view the release by the US CPSC on the Commission's website.

Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada.
