Product description

This recall involves asbestos collectable rock samples labelled as “Actinolite”.

Hazard identified

Health Canada's sampling and evaluation program has revealed that this product contains asbestos. Exposure to asbestos and asbestos fibres presents a significant long term health risk to exposed individuals when present in ambient air in considerable concentration. A prolonged exposure to high concentrations of airborne asbestos fibres has been linked to such health problems as asbestosis (a scarring of the lungs), lung cancer, mesothelioma (a rare cancer of the lining of the chest or abdomen) and possibly gastrointestinal cancers.

Neither Health Canada nor Green's Rock & Lapidary Ltd. has received any reports of consumer incidents or injuries related to the use of this product.
