This recall involves specific G1 ICON Single Lever Binnacle Mount Remote Controls, G1 ICON Dual Lever Binnacle Mount Remote Controls, and G2 ICON II Dual Lever Binnacle Mount Remote Controls.

Hazard identified

A limited number of binnacle mount remote control levers designed and assembled by the supplier, SeaStar Solutions, may be incorrectly assembled and pull away from the remote control resulting in loss of throttle and shift control. In some circumstances, this situation may cause serious injury or even death.

Neither Health Canada nor BRP has received any reports of consumer incidents or injuries related to the use of these products.

Number sold

Approximately 163 of the affected ICON and ICON II Binnacle Mount Remote Controls were sold in Canada.

Time period sold

The recalled products were sold from March 2014 to January 2016.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled Remote Controls and Call an authorized Evinrude/Johnson dealer and make an appointment to have their ICON or ICON II Binnacle Mount Remote Control(s) serviced. The solution is the inspection of the control and if necessary, the replacement of the control. The service will be performed at no charge to the consumers.
