Bontrager Flare RT accessory light and Ion 700 RT accessory light

Product description

The Bontrager Flare RT accessory light is sold individually. The light is intended as a rear light to improve visibility of the rider. It is powered by a rechargeable lithium ion battery. The date codes for the Flare RT include are Af0400001 through Af0400407.

The Ion 700 RT accessory light is sold in the Bontrager Transmitter Lighting Set that comes with a remote. The light is intended as a front light to improve the forward visibility for and of the rider. It is powered by a rechargeable lithium ion battery. The date code for the Ion 700 RT is 1606.

Hazard identified

The lights may not work properly when used with a transmitter device. If the lights turn off while the bicycle is being used in low-light conditions, the rider may not be visible to vehicles and other road users and the rider may not see the road and paths. This may pose a crash hazard.

As of December 14, 2016, Trek Bicycle Corporation has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada.

Number sold

Approximately 44 potentially affected units of the Bontrager Flare RT accessory lights and 4 units of the Ion 700 RT accessory lights were sold in Canada.

Time period sold

The accessory lights were sold from July 2016 to October 2016.

Place of origin

Manufactured in China.

What you should do

Consumers should remove the accessory lights immediately and contact Trek for a free replacement.
