Pine Mountain Bicycles

Product description

This recall involves two Marin adult bicycle models: 2016 "Pine Mountain 1" and 2017 "Pine Mountain" bicycles. The bicycles were available in five frame sizes and have a silver painted frame with an orange painted fork. "Pine Mountain 1" or "Pine Mountain" is printed on the top tube of the frame, and the down tube of the frame has a "MARIN" decal. 

Hazard identified

The rigid front forks on these recalled bikes can bend or break during use, posing fall and crash hazards to the user.

As of March 28, 2017, the company has received one report of a fork bending during use in Canada but no injuries in Canada. In the United States, the company has received one incident report of a bent bicycle fork, and no reports of injuries.

Number sold

Approximately 107 units of the affected products were sold in Canada, and approximately 370 were sold in the United States.

Time period sold

The recalled products were sold from December 2015 through February 2017.

Place of origin

Manufactured in Indonesia.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled mountain bikes and contact Marin Bikes for instructions on receiving a replacement bicycle fork and scheduling a free repair.

For more information, consumers may contact Marin Bikes by telephone toll free at 1-888-655-5333, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. PT Monday through Friday, or visit the company's website and click on the "Recalls/Safety" link at the bottom of the pages for more information.

Consumers may view the release by the US CPSC on the Commission's website.

Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada.
