Product description
This recall involves the following three Tried & True products, Danish Oil, Varnish Oil and Original Wood Finish. The recalled products contain linseed oil and are sold in 473mL, 946mL and 3.79L containers.
Hazard identified
Health Canada has established that the recalled products do not meet the labelling requirements under Canadian law. The products lack the spontaneously combustible symbols and warnings required for flammable consumer chemicals. Products identified as spontaneously combustible may cause rags and cloths used with the product to burn on their own.
As of July 27, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada. Health Canada has received two reports of incidents related to the use of these products.
Number sold
Approximately 13,031 units of the affected products were distributed by Lee Valley Tools in Canada.
Time period sold
The recalled products were sold from May 2013 to July 2017.
Place of origin

What you should do
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled chemicals and return them to Lee Valley Tools for a replacement label for their product(s).
For more information, consumers may visit the company's website. Cloths or rags used with a product that poses a spontaneously combustible hazard must be put in water or laid flat to dry after use.
Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada.
Health Canada would like to remind Canadians to report any health or safety incidents related to the use of this product or any other consumer product or cosmetic by filling out the Consumer Product Incident Report Form.
