Product description

This recall involves certain Evinrude® E - TEC® G2 150-300 HP outboard motors with a serial number between 5497168 and 5503167, and manufactured in June or July 2017.

The colours of the side panel, top panel and accent stripe of the outboard motor can be customized from a variety of colour combination options.

Hazard identified

The nuts on the gearcase and exhaust housing extension (if applicable) can loosen, allowing the gearcase assembly to detach from the outboard engine. In some circumstances, this may result in a sudden change in direction and loss of steering control, posing a risk of serious injuries or even death.

As of August 16, 2017, the company has received no reports incidents or injuries in Canada.

Number sold

Approximately 50 units of the affected products were sold in Canada.

Time period sold

The recalled products were sold from June to August 2017.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled outboards and call an authorized Evinrude/Johnson dealer to make an appointment to have their outboard serviced free of charge. Authorized dealers have received the instructions and parts necessary to complete the repair procedure.
