Product description

This recall involves John Deere model D105 lawn tractors with serial numbers beginning with 1GXD105E, and service transmissions sold by John Deere authorized dealers for use in the D105 lawn tractor. A complete list of serial numbers included in this recall can be found at the firm's website. The lawn and garden tractors are green and yellow with yellow rims. The model number can be found on the side of the hood of the tractor. The serial number is located on the frame of the machine above the left rear tire.

Hazard identified

A gear in the transmission can fail, posing a crash hazard that could result in serious injury or death.

As of September 11, 2017, Deere & Company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada. In the United States, the Deere & Company has not received any reports of incidents or injuries.

Number sold

Approximately 1,200 of the recalled lawn tractors and 33 service transmissions were sold in Canada and approximately 25,000 of the recalled lawn tractors and 500 service transmissions were sold in the United States.

Time period sold

The recalled lawn tractors and service transmissions were sold from February 2016 to July 2017 in Canada. The recalled lawn tractors were sold from February 2016 to July 2017 and the service transmissions were sold from March 2016 to August 2017 in the United States.

Place of origin

Manufactured in the United States.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled lawn tractors and contact the nearest John Deere dealer to make arrangements for a free repair.

Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada.
