Product description

This recall involves blackweb Power Banks. The products are black and orange in colour and rectangular in shape. All of the affected products are orange coloured where the USB ports are located.The units have the blackweb logo on the front of the product.

Power banks with the following UPC and model numbers are included in the recall:

The model and UPC numbers can be found on the back of the packaging of the product.

Hazard identified

The power bank's battery can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards.

As of March 21, 2018, Wal-Mart Canada Corp. has received 4 reports of the product overheating and the battery exploding.  There were 2 reports of property damage and 2 reports of injury to the skin.

Number sold

Approximately 90,000 units of the blackweb Power Banks were sold in Canada.

Time period sold

The blackweb Power Banks were sold between May 2016 and February 2018 at Walmart Canada retail locations and online.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled blackweb Power Banks and return them to the nearest Walmart Canada retail location for a refund.
