Affected products

Ortovox 3+ Avalanche Transceivers running software version 2.1

Product description

This recall involves the Ortovox 3+ Avalanche Transceivers in blue, green and black with software version 2.1. The following model numbers are affected: 1137000001, 1137000002 and 1137000006.

The recalled product may also be identified by UPC 4250091798461.   

Hazard identified

The recalled products may have a temporary disruption of the transmission function due to a software error. This may cause a delay in the search and rescue process of users.

As of June 27th, 2018, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada or in the United States.

Number sold

Approximately 6,990 units of the affected products were sold in Canada and 19,365 were sold in the United States at outdoor specialty stores, ski shops, direct to avalanche professionals, search and rescue personnel and mountain guides.

Time period sold

The recalled products were sold from October 2010 to April 2018.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled transceivers and return them to Ortovox for a free repair, including free shipping. The instructions may be found in English and in French.
