Viessmann Vitodens 200-W and Vitodens 222-F boiler models

Product description

This recall involves certain Vitodens 200-W and 222-F boiler models used for space or domestic water heating. The product name and model number can be found on the left side of the boiler cover. The serial number can be found on the underside of the boiler.

Boilers which have a yellow sticker applied to the boiler rating plate located on the left side of the boiler cover have already undergone a heat exchanger replacement and are not subject to this recall.

Hazard identified

The back plate of the heat exchanger may corrode and exhaust flue gases may leak into the house or living spaces, posing a risk of increased carbon monoxide levels.

As of April 23, 2019 the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these boilers in Canada or the United States.

Number sold

Approximately 1,400 units of the affected products were sold in Canada and approximately 2,900 were sold in the United States.

Time period sold

The affected products were sold from September 2014 to September 2018.

Place of origin

Manufactured in Germany.

What you should do

Consumers with recalled boilers are advised to contact the installer or the wholesaler/distributor from whom they purchased the boiler or Viessmann Manufacturing immediately in order to schedule a free boiler safety inspection.

Consumers who continue the use of these boilers while awaiting inspection should have a working carbon monoxide alarm installed outside of sleeping areas in the home.
