Jenn-Air brand built-in wall ovens

Product description

This recall involves Jenn-Air brand built-in single wall ovens, double wall ovens and combination microwave/wall ovens which contain an extendable roller rack with handle. These ovens were sold in stainless steel, oiled bronze, black, and white. The affected ovens have models numbers that begin with JJW2, JJW3 JMW2 or JMW3 and a serial number beginning with a D or F.  A tool to help consumers identify if their product is affected by this recall can be found on the firm’s website.

Model and serial numbers for single and double ovens are located under the control panel. For combination ovens, the model and serial number are located above the center vent of the lower oven.

Hazard identified

The extendable roller rack with handle may disengage when fully extended, posing a burn hazard.

Health Canada has not received any consumer reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these products in Canada.

Whirlpool Corporation has received one report of a minor burn to a consumer's hand in Canada. In the United States, the company has received seven reports of incidents, including one report of second degree burn injuries to the arm and back.

Number sold

Approximately 8000 units were sold in Canada and 33,000 units in the United States.

Time period sold

The recalled products were sold in Canada and the United States from March 2012 to June 2015 at various retail locations.

Place of origin

Manufactured in the United States.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the extendable roller rack with handle and contact Whirlpool Corporation.

Consumers may view the release by the US CPSC on the Commission's website.

Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada.
