Product description
This recall involves Black+Decker 3-in-1 electric blower/vacuum/mulchers with model numbers BV5600, BV6000 and BV6600. The model number and "Type 1" are printed on the name plate on the right side of the motor housing. Only "Type 1" blower/vacuum/mulchers are included in this recall. They are orange with black accents, a black fan cover and a two-speed switch. They were sold with a blower tube, a vacuum tube and a reusable collection bag. Model BV6600 also has a rake attachment. The affected products are CSA certified with certification file number 150399.
Hazard identified
The fan cover can unlatch unexpectedly, posing a laceration hazard.
Health Canada has not received any reports of consumer incidents or injuries related to the use of these products in Canada.
In Canada, Stanley Black & Decker has received one report of the fan cover unexpectedly coming off with the consumer receiving a finger laceration from contact with the fan. In the United States, Black & Decker (U.S.), Inc. has received three similar reports of incidents with consumers also receiving finger lacerations from contact with the fan.
Number sold
Approximately 20,000 units of the recalled products were sold in Canada and approximately 560,000 units were sold in the United States.
Time period sold
The recalled products were sold from May 2013 to September 2016 in Canada and in the United States.

What you should do
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled electric blower/vacuum/mulchers and contact Stanley Black & Decker for a free repair kit, which includes a replacement fan cover.
