Product description

The recall involves Crownplace Brands’ Aladdin MAXbrite 500 kerosene lamp burners. The solid brass lamp burners measure about 10 cm tall and 7.5 cm in diameter.  The burner thread is 9mm long. “Aladdin MAXbrite500” is printed on the burner knob.  “Aladdin” and the patent number 3551086 are printed on the barrel of the burner. The UPC code is 675222125765.

Hazard identified

The lamp burner’s threads can disengage, allowing the burner to disconnect from the base, posing burn and fire hazards to the user.

Neither Health Canada nor Crownplace Brands Ltd. has received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these lamp burners in Canada.

Number sold

Approximately 14 units of the recall lamp burners were sold in Canada and about 500 units were sold in the United States.

Time period sold

The recalled lamp burners were sold from October 2015 to March 2016 in Canada.

Place of origin

Manufactured in China.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled lamp burners and call the toll-free number (800) 457-5267 between 9:00 am – 4:30 pm EST, or send an email or visit the firm's website for a replacement or refund.

Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada.

Health Canada would like to remind Canadians to report any health or safety incidents related to the use of this product or any other consumer product or cosmetic by filling out the Consumer Product Incident Report Form.
