Product description

Home Decorators Collection Comotti 3 and 4 light vanity fixtures. The light fixtures have 3 and 4 chrome coloured glass shades that contain clear acrylic ball strands surrounding a halogen light. The wall plate is made of reflective stainless steel.

Hazard identified

The light shades can be overtightened which can cause them to detach and fall, posing a laceration and burn hazard.

As of June 29, 2017, the company has received no reports of falling lamp shades in Canada, and no reports of injuries.

In the United States, the company has received 108 reports of light shades falling, including one report of a laceration to the head that also involved a laceration and burn to the arm and one report of a laceration to the leg.

Number sold

Approximately 5,150 units of the affected products were sold exclusively at Home Depot stores and online in Canada; and approximately 64,200 were sold in the United States.

Time period sold

The affected products were sold from July 1, 2016 to March 6, 2017 in Canada, and from December 2014 to March 6, 2017 in the United States.

Place of origin

Manufactured in China.

Consumers should stop using the affected products and contact Design Solutions International to receive free replacement light shades and replacement instructions.

Consumers can also visit the company's website and click on "Recall Information" at the bottom of the page.
