Affected products

Bontrager Line Pro flat bicycle pedals

Product description

This recall involves all Bontrager Line Pro flat pedals. The pedals are sold in pairs as an aftermarket product.

The following Bontrager Line Pro flat pedals are recalled:

Hazard identified

The pedals may have been manufactured with hydrogen embrittlement in the spindle of the pedals, causing one or both of the pedals to fail. When it fails, the pedal body separates from the spindle. If this happens while the bicycle is being operated, the rider could potentially lose control of the bicycle and fall.

As of July 4, 2018, the company has received 1 report of pedal separation in Canada, and no reports of injuries. In the United States, the company has received 13 reports of pedal separation, and no reports of injuries.

Number sold

Approximately 620 units of the affected products were sold in Canada, and approximately 9,630 were sold in the United States.

Time period sold

The recalled products were sold from April 2016 to June 2018.

Place of origin

Manufactured in Taiwan.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled product and bring the affected product to the retailer for repair.

Consumers may view the release by the US CPSC on the Commission's website.
