Product description

This recall involves the Barrel-O-Slime toy sold in green, yellow, purple and red plastic containers with item number SL-102 and universal product code (UPC) 829841002420. The item number and UPC can be found on a white sticker located on the side of the slime container.

Hazard identified

Health Canada's sampling and evaluation program has determined the Barrel-O-Slime toy does not meet the Canadian toy safety requirements related to boric acid content.

Boric acid can be toxic to children if licked or swallowed. Children are more sensitive to boric acid toxicity than adults. High levels of boric acid ingestion may have long-term effects on a child's development and their future reproductive health.

As of October 4, 2018 Dollar Novelty has received no reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these toys in Canada.

Number sold

Approximately 4, 985 units of the affected products were sold in Canada.

Time period sold

The recalled toys were sold from February 2018 to October 2018.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately take the recalled slime toys away from children and dispose of them in their regular household garbage.
