Summary

  • Product: John Deere Compact Utility Tractors.

Affected products

Green and yellow John Deere 4044R, 4052R and 4066R compact utility tractors.

Product description

This recall involves John Deere green and yellow compact utility tractors.  The name "John Deere" and the model number are printed in yellow and black on the front left side of the tractor.  The product identification numbers can be found on a black and white label on the right side of the tractor frame, above the axle.

The following model and product identification numbers are affected by this recall:

*Note that the "+" can be any letter from A to Z.

Hazard identified

The front cab support bolts may break, loosen, or fall out of place, posing a crushing injury hazard to the operator in case of a rollover.

As of October 25, 2019, the company has not received any reports of incidents or injuries in Canada or in the United States.

Number sold

Approximately 1,643 units of the affected product were sold in Canada, and approximately 5,670 units were sold in the United States.

Time period sold

The affected products were sold from October 2016 to September 2019.

Place of origin

Manufactured in the United States.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled mowers and contact the nearest John Deere dealer to arrange to have the mower repaired.

For more information, consumers can visit the company's website or contact Deere & Company by telephone toll-free at 1-800-537-8233.  Consumer support is available Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. EST.  

Consumers may view the release by the US CPSC on the Commission’s website.
