Product description

This recall involves Nicotine Base Solution and Nicotine Salts Base Solution. The products are sold with 100 mg of nicotine per mL for diluting and mixing. The nicotine is mixed with a base of Polyethylene Glycol (PG) and/or Vegetable Glycerin (VG). These products are packaged in child resistant containers of various sizes.

Hazard identified

These vaping products do not meet requirements of the Consumer Chemicals and Containers Regulations, 2001 (CCCR, 2001) under the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act.

Vaping liquids containing equal to or more than 66 mg/g nicotine meet the classification of "very toxic" under the CCCR, 2001 and are prohibited from being manufactured, imported, advertised, or sold in Canada.

Vaping liquids containing nicotine may pose a poisoning hazard if ingested. Improper packaging and labelling could result in unintentional exposure to these products and lead to serious illness, injury or death.

As of April 16, 2020, the company has not received any reports of incidents or injuries in Canada.

Approximately 500 units of the affected product were sold in Canada.

Time period sold

The affected products were sold from February 2013 to April 2020.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled products. One of the following options should be considered:

  • Properly dispose of the product according to municipal waste guidelines, or
  • Dilute to 65 mg/mL with USP grade propylene glycol and/or vegetable glycerin with guidance from the company, or
  • Return for replacement and obtain a 65 mg/mL solution of equivalent value.
