Product description

This recall involves Step2’s StepUp Sidekick Learning Tower™ step stool and chair for children.  The tower can be used as a helper stool and as a chair.  It has a white plastic exterior with a gray tray with two cup holders, seat and a step.

The model number "4134" is molded into the bottom of the tower and the manufacture codes can be found on the removable seat/step piece.

In Canada, the recalled product was only sold on Walmart.ca 

Hazard identified

The storage tray with cup holders and the step can come loose from the tower, posing a fall hazard.

As of August 4, 2021, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada. In the United States, the company has received 20 reports of the storage trays or steps coming loose from the tower, including 1 report of a child sustaining a minor injury.

Number sold

The company reported that 34 units of the affected product were sold in Canada and 225 were sold in the United States.

Time period sold

The affected products were sold from May 2021 to June 2021.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled step stool and chair. Eligible consumers are being offered a full refund, or a credit of equivalent value towards the purchase price of another Step2 product on Step2.com, or a Walmart gift card.

Consumers may also visit the website at Step2.com and click on Product Recalls at the bottom of the page for more information. Step2 is notifying all known customers directly.

Consumers may view the release by the US CPSC on the Commission's website.

Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada.
