Product description

This recall involves the "Shakeel Bhai Mehndi Waley Bridal Special Henna Cone" products.

The product is sold in a red triangular shaped cardboard package and is labelled "Special Bridal Cone – Shakeel Bhai Mehndi Waley, TM NO. 329614".  The products were sold by several importers throughout Canada.

Hazard identified

The recalled product contains phenol which is a prohibited Hotlist ingredient. Phenolic compounds are known skin sensitizers and can produce chemical burns (corrosive action) to the skin.

As of April 4, 2017, TAHA International has received one reported incident in Canada.  As of May 24, 2017 neither Nutrifresh West Ltd. nor PAK National Foods Ltd. have received any reports of injuries or incidents in Canada.

Number sold

Approximately 20,022 units were distributed to retailers across Canada.There may be additional units sold by other retailers.

Time period sold

The recalled products were sold from July 2015 to May 2017 at various ethnic stores across Canada.There may be other importers in addition to the ones listed in this recall.

Place of origin

Manufactured in Pakistan.
